Winnipeg Transit  begins operation of the first XHE60 bus in Canada

First Day

On December 12, 2025, Winnipeg Transit 295 operated on the 1-24 run of route BLUE, completing one round-trip between U of M and Unicity Hub. This marked the first day of operation for the New Flyer XHE60 in Canada.

XHE60

The XHE60 is a 60-foot (articulated) low-floor hydrogen fuel cell electric bus manufactured by New Flyer. The model number stands for the following:

  • X: Xcelsior (product line)
  • H: Hydrogen fuel cell
  • E: Electric
  • 60: 60-foot length
